This summer was different. Instead of going to Milwaukee, we went to China. We spent 21 days there, moving around different cities. It was very hot everywhere we went. We landed in Shanghai and stayed there for 4 days. We walked around Nanjing Road Pedestrian Street many times where there were lots of stores. We went into the M&M store and ate at a bagel restaurant where we used glove to eat like the Chinese. We did some tours, walked through temples and the last day we went to People's Park to see the marriage market. We went by plane to the next city, Zhangjiajie. From there we took a DiDi and drove 40 minutes to Wulingyuan. We stayed there for 3 days so that we could be closer to the Avatar Mountains. We also went to the Grand Canyon where there was a glass floor bridge, we zip-lined, and went down a slide. Then we went back to Zhangjiajie and at night we went to the 72 Wonder Building. In the morning we went to Tianmen Mountain by cable car and walked down the 999 steps. We took a bullet train the next morning to Furong Town. We walked through the town and saw the waterfall light up at night. The next afternoon we took another bullet train to Fenghuang Ancient Town. There we walked around at night to see the town and its bridges lit up. We took another bullet train to Chongqing where we stayed for 3 days to walk and see the streets. We took our fourth bullet train to Chengdu. We arrived and went to see another marriage market at People's Park, Tianfu Square and ended our day. The next day we went to see the pandas in the morning and we went back to People's Park. Next, we took a bullet train to Xi'an (my favorite city). We spent the afternoon walking on top of the City Wall and through the Muslim Quarter. During the day we visited the Terracotta Warriors and the park. We only spent two days there, and then we went to Beijing for 5 days and that's where we ended our vacation. We had peking duck and egg fried rice, they were both like paradise in your mouth. The first day we went on a tour to see Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden City, but it wasn't that good because it was raining. It eventually cleared up and we visited 2 parks. At night we did a food tour. We tried camel meat, door-nail meat pies, ... The next morning we started our day in the Lama Temple and ended it on the Great Wall of China and going back to the restaurant to eat more peking duck and fried rice. The next day we decided to go back to Tiananmen Square to get a better view of it. Later we went to the Summer Palace and Wangfujing Pedestrian Street. The last day we visited our last temple and walked through South Luogu Lane and Wangfujing Pedestrian Street. To end our vacation we went back to the restaurant for the third time to have one last dish of fried rice and duck.
Interesting things I saw:
- People were always on their phone
- Men pulled their shirt up, showing their hidden abs, when they were hot
- Fastest bullet train: 348 km/hr
- Chinese asking to take pictures with me
- Getting lots of samples of tea (blueberry, raspberry, mango, ...) This is my memorable food moment from China
